Haiti - Social : 2nd Sunday of pre-carnival activities, many wounded

On January 20th, the 2nd Sunday of pre-carnival activities 2019, the 3 advanced medical posts (PMA) were very busy, many wounded were identified. The Communal Administration of Port-au-Prince has recorded a total of 24 cases of various injuries including 3 wounded with knives and four 4 wounded by bullets; two cases of beating and 15 other unclassified cases. 86 asthma attacks were also recorded in the 3 PMA this Sunday.

The Communal Administration of Port-au-Prince wishes to recall that the theme of the Carnival of Port-au-Prince is "Respekte Lavi"; it deplores the incidents of violence that occurred during this second Sunday and believes in the authority of the National Police to restore calm in the commune.

Also, the Communal Administration of Port-au-Prince wants to remind the DJs and animators accompanying them that obscene and foreign music is strictly prohibited on the carnival route. It is forbidden to play foreign songs even during the sound tests. In addition, DJs and presenters are asked to avoid any kind of comments aimed at devaluing women. Anyone who contravenes the rules defined beforehand by the Town Hall will be fined 50,000 gourdes which he must pay before his next outing.

The Communal Administration of Port-au-Prince reiterates its commitment to guarantee the smooth running of pre-carnival activities 2019.
