A new majority political bloc
A new majority political bloc with 65 members has just been born in the Chamber of Deputies. Called EPAN (Parliamentary Agreement for a National Alternative) it replaces the Parliamentary Alliance bloc for Haiti (APH).

Former Deputy convicted
The former Deputy of Léogâne Jean-Baptiste Anthony Dumont, imprisoned in February 2017 for sexual assault and sexual abuse on a minor, is sentenced to four years in prison by the criminal court sitting without jury assistance. The lawyer of the former deputy will appeal in cassation against the decision. Education : Two strike days announced
The Haitian Teachers Unions Platform (PSEH) launched a two-day strike for Monday, January 28 and Tuesday, January 29, 2019 to denounce the state of mismanagement of the Haitian education system. The platform brings together several associations such as the National Confederation of Teachers (CNEH), the Teachers in Action Struggle Group (GIEL) and the National Union of Normaliens and Educators of Haiti (UNNOEH), among others. The platform, through its secretary, Magalie Georges, denounces the poor working conditions of teachers, the non-significant budget allocated to education from 16 to less than 12% for the fiscal year.

French Guiana : 2 compatriots lose their lives
It is with great emotion that the Consulate of the Republic of Haiti in French Guiana learned this Tuesday, January 22, 2019, the death of two compatriots, following a terrible fire that ravaged several houses located on the street Boudinot in Cayenne.
