Haiti - Politic : Opposition position on the PM Nation Speech 19/02/2019 09:26:27 Opposition Position : "The Democratic and Popular Sector has taken note that the Prime Minister Jean Henry Céant has just made his second general policy statement, while the nation was waiting for a speech that shows his concern for the acute crisis that exists in the country for more than a week. In his address to the Nation, he ignored the main demands of the Haitian people who demand the departure of President Jovenel Moses from power. At this crucial moment in national life, the great ills of which the Republic suffers can not be overcome by small, superficial measures to sprinkle the depths of the misery of the Haitian people, which unequivocally rejects a system of inhuman and destructive public governance of which Jovenel Moïse is the executing arm. The Democratic and Popular Sector has noted that the statements of Prime Minister Céant constitute a denial of recognition of the dimension of the current crisis, resulting from the catastrophic management of Jovenel Moïse, his incapacity to rise at the height of his task and his systematic desire to reduce the Haitian people to nothing. The Haitian people expected the Prime Minister to suggest that President Moïse listen to his voice. These people who swear by the resignation of Jovenel Moïse. The Prime Minister would have taken this opportunity to tell President Jovenel that he has no legitimacy. That he is not credible by in front of the Haitian population. In a situation of intense tension in all social strata of the country, in a political context full of widespread concern in all Haitian families, Prime Minister Céant, will take place to make an intervention for correction, preferred to take the refrain of a dull dialogue to which even Jovenel Moïse does not believe. This dialogue has already yielded disappointment of the President, publicly expressed during the latest scandal offered in the large conference room BRH. The Democratic and Popular Sector remains united to the demands of the Haitian people. He asks the valiant Haitian population of the 10 Geographical Departments of the country to keep the torch of the mobilization in a peaceful and democratic way until the departure of Jovenel Moïse from power." Moreover, Senator Carl Murat Cantave, Speaker of the Upper House, sees in the timid resumption of activities, a truce of the opposition declaring "I congratulate the Democratic and Popular Sector for the truce it observes in the framework of the the battle it has been waging for a few days [...] I ask that the dialogue opens quickly in the interest of the country without any delay. I ask that all the measures announced by the Prime Minister begin to be implemented immediately, because the people are tired of the socio-political problems of the country." HL/ HaitiLibre
