Haiti - Social : 14 illegal Haitian migrants arrested in Honduras
On Sunday, the Honduran authorities arrested 45 Cuban migrants and 14 Haitians who entered Honduras illegally.

The arrests took place at Guasaule Customs, on the border with Nicaragua, while the migrants were traveling on an intercity bus with the intention of crossing the Honduran territory and continuing their journey to the United States. However, the police say that these migrants did not have the documents required to transit through Honduras.

The migrants were taken to the premises of the National Institute of Migration of Choluteca Department (South), where the authorities will decide if they will obtain a permit allowing them to cross the national territory or if they will be sent back to their country of origin.

For the first two months of 2019, the Honduran authorities have already arrested 2,100 foreigners, including 142 minors, at various customs posts (at the borders with Nicaragua and Guatemala) for having entered Honduras illegally (nearly 4,000 per year for the year 2018). In the last 9 years, the Honduran authorities have intercepted 70,271 migrants who had entered their territory irregularly with the intention of going to the north of the country.
