Haiti - Security : Travel Alert for Haiti, Taiwan switches to yellow

On Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan (MOFA - Republic of China) reduced the travel warning on Haiti from orange to yellow due to the improvement of the situation in the Caribbean country.

The MOFA consular office said in a note that massive anti-government demonstrations in Port-au-Prince and other major cities have stopped and that life is gradually returning to normal in most areas.

However, the MOFA warned that isolated acts of violence were still reported, protesters barricading roads in some places recalls that several international airlines, including Air Canada, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways and Air Transat still adjust or have canceled flights to Haiti until the end of April, said the briefing note.

MOFA urges Taiwanese nationals to confirm their flights before traveling and to avoid gathering or protest sites.

Remember that the yellow code is the third level of the MOFA travel warning system. The yellow color means that Taiwanese travelers should review their travel plans and be extra vigilant at each visit to Haiti.
