At the end of this meeting away from the media... Jovenel Moïse on his Twitter account wrote "I received in audience, at the National Palace, the Senator Marco Antonio Rubio. The meeting focused on strengthening of relations of friendship and cooperation between Haiti and the US, as well as on investment, security and elections."

For his part American Senator said "I met with President of Haiti Jovenel Moïse to discuss the importance of the dialogue for the elections in October. I thanked President Moïse for his support on the Venezuelan issue and spoke about partnership opportunities for economic development and the fight against drug trafficking." There was also talk of China's predatory economic practices and the formation of the next Government...

Senator Marco Rubio then met with the Presidents of both Houses of Parliament, who discussed the choice of a new Prime Minister and the formation of a new government. Finally, Senator Rubio went to the American Embassy where, in the presence of Ambassador Michele Sison, he met with several Haitian political leaders to whom he asked to focus dialogue to find a solution to the crisis. The next Government, the parliamentary and municipal elections of October 2019 and the favorable conditions for investment in Haiti were also on the agenda of this meeting.
