Following the attack by the Ambassador of Chile in Haiti, north-east of Port-au-Prince, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27219-haiti-flash-haiti-has-no-more-government.html Roberto Ampuero, the Foreign Minister announced Thursday in a video published by the Chilean Chancellery, that the Chilean Government will enhance the security of its representatives diplomats in Haiti.

"We have taken steps to strengthen security in this country [Haiti] and we will continue to take other measures. We will send officials from the Chilean Police (Policía De Investigaciones - PDI) to reform the security of our representatives in this country."

Ampuero thanked the role played by Chilean security agents in repelling the attack with handguns and said that what they had done wa s"a truly heroic act".

Chancellor Ampuero expressed his solidarity with the people affected by this attack and declared that Chile "[...] will continue the collaboration and cooperation for development in Haiti in the areas of education, housing and institution building [ ...]"

Note that on Thursday morning the Haitian Chancellor Bocchit Edmond paid a courtesy visit to the Ambassador of Chile in Haiti, Patricio Utreras, to express the regrets of the Government of the Republic of Haiti, following the unfortunate incidents that occurred Wednesday in the area Boutin, located between Thomazeau and Croix-des-Bouquets.
