Haiti - Politic : Acting PM Lapin could stay in office longer than expected 29/03/2019 10:34:41
Consultations for the appointment of a new Prime Minister have been going on since the beginning of the week and political actors and other sectors of national life are marching through the National Palace to discuss with President Jovenel Moïse the profile of the next Prime Minister but also on the new Ministerial Cabinet. Patrick Crispin, one of the advisers to the Head of State who wants to reassure said on the air of a radio of the capital "Haiti will have a Head of Government as soon as possible..." An opinion that does not share the opposition Deputy Jean Robert Bossé (OPL) who is convinced that the acting Prime Minister Jean Michel Lapin and the resigning Government will remain in office well beyond the 30 days stipulated in the Constitution amended for to liquidate the day-to-day business, taking into account the work of verification of the documents by the committees of both Houses and the ratification process in Parliament... For his part, the Deputy of Delmas Gary Bodeau, Speaker of the Lower House announced that he had a phone conversation with the Head of State about the appointment of a new Prime Minister and a new Government. Bodeau who advocates the establishment of a Government of appeasement, wishes the appointment of a woman as Prime Minister. Recall that from 1988 to 2018, Haiti knew no less than 22 Prime Ministers, including 3 women : Claudette Werleigh (1995-1996), Michele D. Pierre Louis (2008-2009) and Florence Duperval Guillaume (2014-2015). S/ HaitiLibre
