Haiti - Elections : Possible postponement of the final results to April 18, 2011
After the weekend passed, the decisions of the electoral judges were displayed in the various Departmental Electoral Challenges Office (BCED). In some constituencies, some candidates unsatisfied by the judgments make a final appeal with the National Electoral Challenges Office (BCEN).

According to Thibault Junior, Director of Communications of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) the processing of appeals at BCEN where fifty cases must be heard, could bring the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) to postpone the announcement of final results to Monday, April 18, 2011 instead of the originally scheduled date of April 16. Although to date, the CEP has not made an official announcement to that effect, the postponement of 48 hours is very probable especially as the preliminary results of the second round had also been delayed by 48 hours.

Steven Benoit, Senator elected in the first round in the West Department, said that his organization [Alternative] is very vigilant to prevent the platform INITE manages to steal the popular vote at the level of the challenge offices, stressing that the victory of the 14 members of the Alternative platform have been challenged at the BCED by INITE candidates. The senator who had denounced on a radio of the capital, scheming to favor candidates of the platform INITE has declared "We are closely following the sessions to be ensure there is no deals in the challenge offices"

For his part, Senator Evallière Beauplan also denounced the candidates under the banner of the ruling party, which tries to have a majority in the Senate by producing, according to him, challenges that are unfounded. "A seizure (mainmise) has already been made and they won Port de Paix in the Senate [...] now they [INITE] would like to win the deputation" indicated the senator which invites the CEP to respect the electoral law and "to not to yield to the pressure of the team to the power".

For his part, Arnel Belizaire, deputy elected in the constituency Delmas/Tabarre speaking on behalf about thirty other parliamentarian, calls Gaillot Dorsinvil the President of CEP, to take steps to ensure that the popular vote is respected. He claims to have information that Ministers and Directors General, currently in office, would have paid large sums to make change the election results of March 20 in favor of their supporters...
