Haiti - Environment : The Embassy of France wants to reward young Haitian researchers
The service of Cooperation and Cultural Action of the Embassy of France in Haiti, announces the organization of the first edition of the "Prix Jean-Christophe Fernandes" [1], in partnership with the associations Athletic of Haiti and the Centre Francophone de Recherche Partenariale sur l'Assainissement, les Déchets et l'Environnement (CEFREPADE).

This prize is awarded to young researchers for their Haitian research in the field of environment. To participate it is necessary to be aged under 35, to be affiliated with a Haitian institution of higher education member of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) (or have been until 2010), having conducted research in the field of environment which were the subject of a publication or of a defense in 2010 (PhD thesis, master thesis or end of engineering studies, publication in a scientific journal with reading committee). Be in one of the following scientific areas: Science for engineers and Humanities and Social Sciences, in conjunction with an environmental problem in Haiti.

Awards will be given in July by a jury consisting of representatives of the Haitian University bodies and institutions responsible for this award.

Amount of awards :
Award doctoral thesis or scientific publication: 75 000 gourds (±40 gourds = 1 $US)
Award master or end of engineering studies : 32 000 gourds (±40 gourds = 1 $US)

[1] Jean-Christophe Fernandes was a young French researcher enrolled in thesis jointly supervised between INSA of Lyon and the University Quisqueya, CEFREPADE voluntary, under statute AFVP - France Volunteers [formerly : French Association of Progress Volunteers] with the Athletic of Haiti. He died in the earthquake on January 12, 2010.
