Haiti - Politic : New Parliamentary Calendar

According to Kély Bastien, President of the Senate, the postponement of the publication of the final results of the second round of the elections of March 20, at 20 April 2011 instead of the original date of 16 April, should have no effect on the inauguration of the new Deputies and Senators.

The announcement of the results this April 20, 2011 should be followed by their publication in the official newspaper "Le Moniteur" on April 22 at the latest.

Kély Bastien confirmed that the date of April 27, "arrested" for the first meeting of the National Assembly of the 49th Legislature, is maintained, noting that the period from April 27 to May 9 is not negotiable because of the debate and the vote on the amendments of the Constitution, which must be completed before the inauguration of the next President on May 14, 2011.

Le postponement of the announcement of final results will cause some changes in the parliamentary calendar, activities that were planned from April 19 to 21 [the registration process and the training and information seminars to all levels] will take place now from April 23 to 24, 2011.

The credentials and the sworn are maintained for 25 April and the election of members of the new office is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26.
