Haiti - Education : 4.1 million Euros for the EDUKAYITI Project in the South-East

Friday, at the initiative of the Office of the Minister of National Education Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet and the Directorate General of the Ministry, was held at the premises of the General Inspectorate of the Ministry, a Workshop on the various components of the EDUKAYITI project.

The main objective was to enable all the Ministry bodies and the national and international technical cooperation partners involved to have a common understanding of the project, to better understand the different axes of the project, the mechanisms for intervention and the expected results and responsibilities of each actor for its success.

EDUKAYITI which intervenes in the South-East of the country, intends to support the actions of the Ministry aiming in particular to reinforce the capacities of the Departmental Direction of Education (DDE) of the South-East and to improve the learning of the reading and writing in the 15 target schools, which concern about 16,800 students as well as improving access and governance.

Endowed with an envelope of 4,152 million euros (over 3 years), jointly financed by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID) for 1,152 million Euros and by the European Union (EU) €3 million, the project plans to strengthen educational services in the South-East and improve the quality of education for the first cycle of basic education.

Remember that the EDUKAYITI Project, which started in February 2019, is due to end in April 2021.
