Haiti - Politic : President Moïse reiterates his promise to fight against insecurity
Thursday President Jovenel Moïse, surfing on the recent successes of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), which he attributes to the measures that were taken mid-April, to fight against the armed bands, reiterated his promise to fight against the growing insecurity that has already caused more than a hundred deaths in Haiti since November 2018 claiming "We will create laws that scare off bandits so they do not even dare to touch guns [...] bandits will have no chance to escape and will have to choose between giving up their weapons or living hidden forever."

Recall that Monday, April 29, 2019, the police shot down the dangerous Head of Gang "Ti je" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27595-haiti-flash-the-dangerous-gang-leader-tije-dies-under-the-bullets-of-the-pnh.html , responsible for the massacre at the Impasse Eddy (Carrefour-Feuilles) which made 20 victims April 24 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27559-haiti-flash-massacre-of-carrefour-feuilles-death-toll-climbed-cspn-emergency-meeting.html

On Tuesday, April 30, during an operation in Savien (Department of Artibonite) the PNH confirmed that the head of Gang Leader Arnel Joseph had been wounded and that his right arm had been killed https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27604-haiti-flash-the-gang-leader-arnel-joseph-wounded.html An operation that allowed to regain control of the city during which a vehicle registered in the service of the state was found.

The issue of insecurity has increased considerably in recent months in the country and many observers believe that the situation may worsen again with the elections scheduled for next October, coinciding with the departure of the UN forces (UNPol) and the end Mission of Minujusth.

Given this perspective, Michel Ange Gédéon, the Director General of the PNH reassures by saying that he is ready for the end of the international accompaniment.
