Canada : The Haitian first asylum seekers in 2017
On Friday May 17, Statistics Canada revealed that the number of refugee claimants in Canada increased from 16,058 in 2015 to 50,389 in 2017, which states that "The increase in the number of refugee claimants over the past two years is partly due to an increase in the number of irregular migrants," pointing out that in 2017, after the Trump administration's decision to revoke the Temporary Protection Status (TPS), Haitian nationals were the most represented nationality.
