Haiti - Politic : Government willing to collaborate with Mexico on migration
Luc Garvey Jean-Pierre, the charge d'affaires of the Embassy of Haiti in Mexico, expressed the will of Haiti to collaborate with the Government of Mexico on immigration issues, after the repatriations of Haitians this week to Port-au-Prince.

Recall that Saturday, June 29, not without an attempt to mutiny https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-28119-haiti-flash-haitians-mutinute-in-mexico-refusing-to-be-deported.html 81 compatriots who were in a Mexican migration station (administrative detention center) were repatriated to Port-au-Prince.

"Haiti is ready to welcome our citizens and we want to contribute to finding decent solutions for our two countries," said the diplomat. Asked about strengthening Mexico's southern border and strengthening immigration laws, including the use of the military, he said "every country has defined its migration policy [...] we will not intervene in politics of migration of Mexico."

He appreciated "the willingness of the Mexican Government to discuss this issue and an agreement to improve the situation of Haitians in migration stations". Regarding the living conditions of Haitians in these detention centers https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-28094-haiti-social-haitians-try-to-escape-from-a-temporary-shelter-in-mexico.html , he said he visited the "El Siglo XXI" (21st century) station in Tapachula last week.

Luc Garvey Jean Pierre, said he had contacted the Haitian Embassies of Brazil and Chile and asked to dissuade compatriots from traveling to Mexico because there were no conditions allowing them to cross the United-States border.
