Haiti - Justice : 140 new lawyers take oath in Petit-Goâve
Friday, July 26 in the hearing room of the Court of First Instance (TPI) of Petit-Goâve, in the presence of the Dean of the TPI, Me Fritzner Duclair, the Commissioner of the Government Me Fourgy, the Bâtonnier Me Alcide Laguerre and other members of the Council of the Order, 140 men and women, were sworn as lawyers and integrated the bar of this jurisdiction.

Dean Friztner Duclair said he was proud to preside over the ceremony and said "The choice of law is a smart choice, because no domain escapes it especially in a democratic society. The lawyer is a human rights defender, an auxiliary of justice. He must be honest, vigilant. His role is to enlighten judges in the courts... He must seek grandeur rather than wealth. The lawyer is not a "raketè" nor a "brasè". He must respect the rules, seek virtue and flee the corruption and take his profession seriously."

Commissioner Fourgy congratulated the recipients on their successful efforts and encouraged them to specialize before wishing them success in their careers.

In his speech, Me Tristant Rosalès, on behalf of the Bar Council of the Petit-Goâve Bar Association, after addressing the compliments of use to new lawyers, recalled "Lawyers must defend the interests of all litigants [...] They are there to enlighten the magistrates. The compass of the lawyers is the law [...] Three elements must guide the lawyer : the justice, the honor, and the courage [...] The lawyer must be an intellectual reference [...] It is not a porter toge rapine inquiry. He must beware of engaging in dishonest acts that do not honor the profession."

Further Me Rosalès Tristant warned these professionals of the law against the violence "The lawyer is not a boxer nor a vulgar nor a comedian. It must impose itself by its originality, its eloquence, its dialectic, its presentation. He has to win a clientele according to the notoriety he builds [...] The legal profession is difficult [...] One must have a general culture and be constantly engaged in studies," concluded the director of the school of Bar.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, the young lawyer, Guyto Mathieu [Correspondent of HaitiLibre] in a message read in front of the local press, presented his compliments to his colleagues and thanked the various speakers who gave salutary advice to the new confreres and sisters "To be a great lawyer, all you have to do is follow the instructions, keep up with the books, know the texts of the law, the codes, have the ability to analyze, to reason legally, to master the language of the la, work and procedural rules... We reiterate our commitment to train ourselves, the profession of lawyer requires the acquisition of universal knowledge and our ideal is to become a worthy and skilled professional. To acquire the science, the specialization to better practice our profession, such is Our dream."
