Tuesday the deputy spokesman of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), the Chief Inspector Gary Desrosiers, presented the assessment of the month of July, of the various units of the West Departmental Directorate of the PNH.

He revealed that 498 people were arrested in the various communes of the Department of the West, accused inter alia of armed robbery, robberies, assassinations and assassination attempts, theft of motorcycles and vehicles and illegal detention of fire arms...

He pointed out that during police operations, no less than 42 individuals were apprehended in sensitive areas of the capital including Martissant, Bicentennial, Village de Dieu and Downtown, and 25 firearms were seized and 3 weapons stolen from the PNH were recovered.

In addition, he said that a device of 2,300 police officers had been deployed to ensure the safety of people during the summer.
