Haiti - Security : 146 Haitians Boat people intercepted by the US Coast Guard
On August 11th, the crew of Cutter William Trump (WPC-1111), of the US Coast Guard 7th District, intercepted about 40 miles north of Turtle Island a 40 feet sailboat overloaded with aboard 146 migrants of Haitian origin (120 men, 22 women and 4miners) and embarked on board these illegal migrants

"These illegal ventures attempting to immigrate to the United States in ill-equipped and severely overloaded vessels are extremely dangerous, especially during the hurricane season, when weather and sea conditions can rapidly change in minutes, putting migrants in danger of being lost at sea," said Capt. Jason Ryan, chief of the enforcement branch of the Coast Guard 7th District, adding "The Coast Guard and our partner agencies coordinate efforts to interdict and stop these unlawful migration attempts into the United States. Migrants caught attempting to gain access into the U.S. through these dangerously illegal undertakings at sea will be repatriated to their country in accordance with existing U.S. immigration policy."

The crew of William Trump later transferred the migrants safely on the Cutter Resolute (WMEC-620) of the Coast Guard repatriated to Haiti on August 13 the 146 Haitians...

Let's recall that for the first 8 months of 2019, 3,414 Haitian migrants tried to enter the United States illegally by sea against 2,727 over 12 months in 2018. These figures represent the total number of interceptions, at sea in the Strait of Florida, in the Caribbean and the Atlantic Ocean.
