On Sunday evening, Deputy Ronald Étienne (Consortium of Political Parties) close to the ruling party, while leaving the capital to go to his constituency of Pestel (Grand'Anse Dept.), was caught in a ambush near Martissant by heavily armed individuals who forced his vehicle to stop, opened fire on the car of the Deputy before fleeing their act.

Keder Dorcely, the Deputy's driver was hit by at least 3 shots and is in critical condition, Ronald Étienne avoided death and was slightly wounded by a bullet in the neck, but his life is not not in danger. Passengers in the vehicle escaped unscathed from this assassination attempt.

For Deputy Rolphe Papillon (Corail) elected under the banner of the same Party as his colleague, there is no doubt that it was a premeditated attack aimed at eliminating the Deputy of Prestel.

Guy Gérard Georges, the Secretary General of the Lower House, confirmed this attack against the Deputy Étienne without further details.
