Haiti - Education : About 2,400 Haitian scholarship students continue their studies in France

Thursday 24 Haitian students awarded of scholarships in France for the start of the 2019 school year were received at the French Embassy. A cocktail was offered to them in the presence of Chargé d'Affaires Marc Servies, Head of the Cooperation Service Laurent Bonneau, the Deputy Jerry Tardieu and the President of the Sogebank Michel Théard Foundation.

These students will benefit this year from scholarships in France. A dozen of these grants will be funded by the French Government, while the others are the result of various partnerships between the Embassy of France, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti, the France Haiti Friendship Group and the Sogebank Foundation. There are also 3 Eiffel Excellence Scholarships and 2 Expertise France Scholarships.

Having chosen to study in various fields such as law, economics, health, agriculture, agronomy, management and finance, these master's and PhD students will soon join the universities of Montpellier, Pointe-à-Pitre, Paris, Dijon or Rennes.

Note that 2,400 Haitians are currently studying in France. With its partners (BRH and Fondation Sogebank), France finances around 25 Master 2 and PhD scholarships per year. France is one of the only partners in Haiti to support higher education, with the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF).

The objective of the French system, through Espace Campus France and the granting of scholarships, is to offer quality training, to create networks and to encourage the return of students to Haiti so that they put their skills at the service of their country's development.

The next objectives of the Embassy of France : further develop partnerships to increase the number of scholarships and develop distance training scholarships with AUF.
