Haiti - DR : The Federations of Haitian Mayors and Dominicans sign a cooperation agreement 15/09/2019 10:30:29
This MOU aims to institutionalize collaboration and cooperation between island municipalities to promote the development of both nations. In this context, the two Federations will develop exchange programs between municipal authorities and civil servants for the transfer of knowledge, information and experience. In his speech, Jude Édouard Pierre said "The different mayors have decided to join hands in building a better future for both peoples [...] they are committed to avoiding political speeches that fuel hatred and xenophobia..." stating that at the regional level, the promotion of a dialogue on the municipal issue, will be made between the mayors of the two countries with particular attention to border issues and encouraged the mayors and Haitian mayors to get together to build a better future and more serene. The agreement has a funding of 130,000 euros from AECID over a period of five years, renewable automatically unless written objection served by one of the parties before the deadline.
