Haiti - Culture : «Europe Day» in Haiti - May 9 to 15

The European Union delegation in Haiti organizes the "Europe Week" from May 9 to 15, with a range of artistic activities in partnership with the embassies of Germany, Spain, France, the FOKAL, the French Institute of Haiti, the foundation AfricAmerica, the restaurant O'brasileiro and the association Tamise.

Twenty young sculptors froml the village of Noaille of the Croix des Bouquets, will exhibit from May 9 at the French Institute of Haiti to mark the start of the week during a vernissage attended by the Ambassador of the European Union in Haiti, Ms. Lut Fabert and representatives of embassies and other institutions.

A mini festival of European films will be held at the FOKAL and the French Institute of Haiti. Two concerts will be held in O'brasileiro (May 11) and to the French Institute of Haiti (May 14) with emerging artists as Blousena Stéphanie Bigord, Abijazz, Nirva Jean, Lord’s Power, all revealed by the popular music contest Katye Pa m. Renette Désir will be the guest artist of the two concerts.

The week will end with a large projection on the football field of Peguy Ville of the film "Cousines​​" by director Richard Sénécal. This projection is part of the "Cinema for All" funded by the European Union and launched last year.

The Europe Day is celebrated each year on May 9 in all European countries to pay tribute this founding moment that was on 9 May 1950. This date has become a European symbol (Europe Day) which, alongside the flag, anthem, motto and the single currency (the euro), identifies the European Union as an entity policy.
