Demonstrations : Partial assessment of October 17th

The Haitian National Police reported a partial assessment of the demonstrations of Thursday, October 17: 4 police officers were injured by throwing stones, another disarmed, 2 buildings and 2 police cars burned, 6 police stations and sub-stations attacked in 5 departments, attempts of looting, vandalism, fires, 4 wounded by bullets and a dozen arrests. Rural women, the first victims of protests

As part of the International Day of Rural Women, the Deputy of Jérémie Marie Gladys St Jean Monday (Bouclier) pleaded for a better social framework for women in rural areas. She pointed out that rural women are more victims of protests and lose their food because of the blockage of roads. She believes that only dialogue can solve the current crisis.
