Haiti - Reconstruction : Michel Martelly today in La Gonâve

After the Central Plateau and the Northeast, the President-elect of the Republic, Joseph Michel Martelly, will be at La Gonâve as part of a series of working visits across the country.

The President Martelly will leave the capital on Wednesday accompanied by his advisor Gregory Mayard-Paul at destination of this island to visit hospitals and centres of health and some beaches. Health is one of the crucial problems of the Haitian peasantry and the elected President intends to provide sustainable solutions during his mandate. The tourism for its part, is and remains one of the poles of the country's development and La Gonâve is still unexplored.

Despite its enormous potential, La Gonâve has been too long neglected by the successive Governments at the head of the country. The President Martelly promises to explore all possibilities that will be able to guarantee the full development of this island.

This will be also, for our President, the opportunity to signify to the Gonaviens, his commitment to contribute to the development of the country as a whole and to combat social injustice, the poverty, rural depopulation and overpopulation. The change can not be effective without a support of all regions.
