Haiti - Politic : Michaelle Jean to the inauguration of Michel Martelly
Michaelle Jean, Unesco special envoy for Haiti and former Governor General of Canada will attend the inauguration ceremony of the new haitian President Michel Joseph Martelly.

In a statement Michaelle Jean said that "The ceremony is a pivotal moment in the history of this country who recovers with difficulty of the devastating earthquake of January 2010 that killed nearly 300,000 people" addeing that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) "supports the implementation of the Haitian national plan of education and vocational training".

The UNESCO "supports the initiatives promoting the safeguarding of the rich historical heritage and the development of the arts and culture sector which play a central role in the Haitian social and economic life".

The latest visit of Michaëlle Jean in Haiti goes back to January 12, 2011.
