Haiti - Justice : Message from the DG of the Unit Against Corruption

As part of the International Day Against Corruption (Monday, December 9), Claudy Gassant, the Director General of the Unit Against Corruption (ULCC) delivered a message that we invite you to share.

Message from the ULCC DG :

"On the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC) wishes to reaffirm its firm commitment to make every effort, within the limits of its legal powers, to prevent and repress corruption in all its forms. Its eradication is crucial for the promotion and effectiveness of a quality public service for the benefit of the community.

Indeed, corruption is a crime, not a haven for politicians, civil servants, elected officials in search of wealth under illegal conditions. It has a devastating impact on society and particularly on vulnerable populations. It is a threat to economic growth. to opportunities. development, peace and security.

The mobilization of national opinion against corruption and its consequences, observed especially during the last two years is an eloquent testimony, a deep awareness of the devastating effects of corruption that compromises the future of present generations as well as that of posterity.

Ultimately, corruption gangrene Haitian society in all its components. This is why the ULCC must be omnipresent and proactive to fulfill its mission of prevention and repression of corruption.

Under my direction, the ULCC will be active in the implementation of new strategies and will open more to other agencies of the State including the General Inspection of Finance (IGF), the National Commission of Public Procurement (CNMP) and the Central Financial Intelligence Unit (UCREF), for an efficient and effective fight."
