USAID encourages a rapid resolution of the crisis

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green is in Haiti (December 12-14) to meet with key elected officials and stakeholders to encourage a quick resolution of the current political stalemate in the country, see USAID-funded projects in the North, and meet with representatives of the private sector and faith-based organizations. He met with Helen La Lime, UN Special Representative in Haiti, to discuss closer collaboration between USAID and UN-Haiti to tackle justice sector reform, including support for a more formal justice system independence and better access to justice for vulnerable groups.

66% of medical schools, illegal

Only 6 faculties of medicine (33%) have the State's operating license out of the 18 identified and 83 nursing and auxiliary schools (48%) hold legal recognition out of a total of 174, established throughout the country, informs the Ministry of Public Health.

39 Haitians arrested on the island of Great Inagua
