Commissioner Michel-Ange Louis-Jeune, Spokesman of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) confirmed during a press briefing, that Thursday December 19 in the morning, following negotiations, the mutineers of the prison of Hinche had finally agreed to release safely Inspector Jean Wilmarc and Jean Jocius, Agent 1, held under hostage since Wednesday during a partial mutiny and an escape attempt https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-29553-haiti-security-partial-mutiny-in-hinche-prison.html . They said the detainees also handed over the service weapons taken to their hostages to the authorities. The PNH spokesman said that the situation had returned to normal at the Prison Center and that there had been no deaths during the mutiny or during the intervention of the police. He also said that an investigation had been opened to find out the exact circumstances of the mutiny and how a firearm could have been brought into the prison and discovered in a cell during an inspection preceding the mutiny. Regarding the demands of the detainees, he indicated that efforts would be made to improve the conditions of detention, but he said nothing about the other demands such as the judgment of the prisoners who never went before the judge or the release of some sick prisoners...
