Friday, December 27, before daybreak, a maritime unit Puerto Rico Police Department Joint Forces for Rapid Action (FURA), spotted a suspicious boat moving without navigation lights about half a mile off Cabo Rojo (west of Puerto Rico) and headed for Buye Beach.

FURA agents intercepted the suspect 22-foot blue boat with a 60-horsepower outboard motor. They arrested 5 men (3 Dominicans and 2 Haitians) after recovering six bales of contraband from the water, containing 360.5 pounds (163.5 kilos) of cocaine with an estimated value of $ 4.1 million.

The five men were taken under investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the United States federal police service under the authority of the United States Department of Justice.
