Haiti - FLASH : Reinforced surveillance for the trips of holders of official or diplomatic passports

On Wednesday, Joseph F. Cianciulli, the Director General of Immigration and Emigration sent a memorandum to all the senior immigration personnel (General and assistant supervisors, general inspectors and immigration assistants) of all border crossers points in the country, concerning new measures aimed at strengthening the control of personalities traveling with an official or diplomatic passport.

This Memorandum stipulates that for personalities departing from national territory "Any passenger holding an official or diplomatic passport must be provided with a Departure Authorization issued by the Directorate of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be authorized to travel.

On return to the country, the Memorandum stipulates that "Any passenger holding an official or diplomatic passport must obligatorily leave this said document with immigration officials. The retained document must be sent the next working day accompanied by a cover letter to the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration."
