We are still without news from Father René Irilan of the diocese of Anse-à-Veau (Miragoâne) kidnapped on the evening of January 30 in Delmas 75 by unidentified individuals. Police and judicial authorities have been informed by religious authorities of Father Irlian's kidnapping, but so far the police have given no information whether or not it has located the location of the hostage, for not giving clues to the kidnappers.

Sequestrated since, his captors demand a ransom for his release.

Mgr. Wildor Pierre, one of the episcopal vicars, was able to speak to the kidnappers by telephone and tried to have the priest released, trying to make them realize that Father Irilan was helping the poorest children in Haiti, begging him to release him, what the kidnappers refused before the communication was interrupted...

Mgr. Pierre André Dumas, Bishop of Anse-à-Veau, informed of this tragedy invited all Christians in Haiti to pray for the release of Father Irilan.
