On the occasion of the celebration of the flag and wishing to valorize the work of Haitian women workers, the First Lady of the Republic, Mrs. Sophia Martelly, yesterday visited four factories operating in the textile sector in the metropolitan area.

In honor of Catherine Flon which has marked our history by sewing the flag of Haiti, one of our most important national symbols, the First Lady of the Republic paid tribute to a total of 12 (twelve) women, three women per plant, which are distinguished by their seniority, their dedication and aptitudes allowing to qualify them of young hopes.

These women also received of the first lady as gift, sewing machines to encourage them to move forward.

That same day Sophia Martelly, visited the emergency operations center of the DPC (Direction de la Protection Civile) located in Delmas 2, to inquire about availability and the arrangements made by the State in the field of the Management of Risk and Disaster in anticipation of the hurricane season that starts June 1. A meeting was held with the various entities around the answers to be given in case of natural disasters.

Through these visits, the objectives of the First Lady are reached, her objectives are to provide her full support to the cause of women and children.
