Haiti - March 8 : Message from the Ambassador of Haiti in Washington DC
As part of International Women’s Day, Hervé Denis, Haiti’s Ambassador to Washington DC "acknowledge the bravery and the fight of Haitian women".

Message from Ambassador Hervé Denis :

"[...] Women being who they are, mothers, spouses, sisters, professional colleagues, the fight for women's rights is not only a women's fight, it is also, and especially, a fight for conscientious men, responsible men.

By adopting the principle of the 30% quota of women's participation in the political-administrative sector of the country, Haiti has placed itself in the forefront of this battle for the emancipation of Haitian women.

Since 1977, at the international level, and 1982 in Haiti, there has been considerable progress in this engagement for the effectiveness of the fight for women's rights. Haiti has had a female President and two women Prime Ministers, which was inconceivable before 1982!

However, it must be recognized that we still have a long road ahead. We have to keep opening doors for women because equality between the genders must not be a wish, but a reality. Indeed, if women are better, families are better. If families are better, society will be better.

Let us support women's rights! Let us de fend gender equality !"
