Haiti - FLASH : First possible case of Covid-19 in Haiti

Today Wednesday, Secretary of State for Communication Mr. Eddy Jackson Alexis confirmed that there is a university professor in the northeast (Université Henri Christophe de Limonade) who is in quarantine because he has symptoms which resembles those of the Covid-19, he had just returned from a trip to the United States of America.

The health directorate of the department made a sample which it sent to the national laboratory. Results should be available in approximately 24 hours.

Should be noted that the professor has been in contact with other people, including students, since his return from the United States of America.

The University's Management Board asked teachers, administrative staff and students to stay at home from Wednesday 18 to Sunday 22 March 2020 while awaiting the results of the test.

According to the MSPP, the situation in Haiti on Wednesday, March 18 was "47 people under quarantine at home, zero cases confirmed. A sample for a laboratory test was taken on suspected cases."
