Haiti - Social : Denial of the Economic and Social Assistance Fund

The Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) formally denies the information circulating on social networks through a video showing the distribution of bags of rice to people in the greatest disorder.

The FAES specifies that this video is the work of malicious and dishonest individuals who seek to tarnish the image of the Institution by broadcasting images which do not represent the distributions as they are currently conducted. The Fund recalls that, in the context of the implementation of the Food Kit Distribution Plan and to deal with Covid-19, it was decided to distribute door-to-door to bring direct food to people in need to avoid beneficiaries catching Covid-19 instead of asking them to queue as in the past.

The FAES asks the vulnerable people who are in the difficult neighborhoods of the country to keep their calm and to be vigilant while encouraging them to stay at home because the teams of the Institution supported by other state entities including the PNH will always there to serve them according to health standards established by the Ministry of Public Health and Population.

In addition, on Saturday, FAES teams, reinforced by volunteer Civil Protection brigadiers supported by the Haitian National Police (PNH), distributed nearly 2,000 food kits to vulnerable people in various neighborhoods of the commune of Delmas by going door to door.
