Haiti - Police : Michel-Ange Gédéon new Head of DDO

The Commissioner Michel-Ange Gédéon, was appointed yesterday Tuesday Head of the Departmental Direction of the West (DDO) in presence of Me Harycidas Augustus, Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince. He succeeds Ralph Stanley Brice [transferred to the Inspectorate General] who spent five years as head of the DDO. The new commissioner, acknowledged that the task will not be easy and called to the collaboration of all sectors involved in the fight against insecurity.

"...I received several trainings both here and abroad, the most prestigious at the FBI National Academy to Quantico, Virginia in 2008. In the meantime I have attended various conferences in several countries of South America. With all that I have as assets in hand, I do not pretend that alone I will overcome the challenge that awaits me [...] I count on you all, not only on all the police officers, but on all responsibles, on all our friends of the press which have always accompanied us in this battle as well as my friends of the Minustah to help me meet this challenge. [...] in return, you can count on me..."

His predecessor, Ralph Stanley Brice, has declared that it was an honor for him to pass the torch to the Commissioner Gédéon. He is convinced that the new Head of the Departmental Direction of the West has all the capabilities and expertise which are necessary to carry out his mission.
