Haiti - Politic : Jovenel Moïse announces the gradual reopening of the national economy

Monday, at the National Palace, President Jovenel Moïse in an address to the Nation announced the gradual reopening of the national economy after 3 months of closure, despite the fact that the Covid-19 continues to spread in all departments...

While saying he was satisfied with the various structures managing the health crisis, Moïse recalled that the disease is still there and asked the population to respect all the measures, the barrier measures decided by the Ministry of Public Health.

He announced that from Tuesday midnight on Tuesday, the reopening of international ports and airports (Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitien as well as the land border with the Dominican Republic (on the Dominican side the border is closed until now). With this decision the country is now open to visitors from all over the world, it remains to be seen which countries will allow their citizens to go to Haiti and which will host flights from Haiti... Remember that Haiti is still on the list of countries to avoid if we believe the travel notices issued by the main chancelleries (United States, France and Canada) and not only for a reason of pandemic.

In addition, the curfew will be reduced and will take effect every day from midnight to 4:00 a.m. until further notice.

At the manufacturing level, the Head of State announced that from July 6, they will be able to operate at full capacity instead of the 30% currently authorized, while insisting on compliance with the principles of hygiene.

Regarding the resumption of school activities, training centers, university and religious activities, Moïse indicated "The government, the scientific unit and the Multisectoral Commission are working to find the best way to allow these institutions to resume their activities."
