Haiti - FLASH : Taiwan considers Haiti a high-risk country and does not allow the arrival of students
So far only foreign students enrolled in a Taiwanese higher education institution to graduate this year from 13 countries considered at low risk in terms of the Covid-19 pandemic (New Zealand , Australia, Macao, Palau, Fiji, Brunei, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Thailand, Mongolia, Bouthan, Laos and Cambodia) were allowed to travel to Taiwan (Republic of China). As of July 7, 304 of them had already received permission to enter Taiwan, including 260 who had already arrived and were quarantined for 14 days.

Now, since July 8, the authorization relates to all students enrolled from 5 countries considered to be at moderate risk (South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka)

Students from other countries considered to be at high riska, are not allowed to come to Taiwan for the moment, specifies the Taiwanese authorities, this ban also concerns students who wish to learn Mandarin.

Students in Haiti are therefore excluded for the moment.

Despite the efforts of the Haitian authorities to "minimize the situation of Covid-19 in Haiti", the figures, arguments and measures put in place to combat the spread of Covid-19, have not convinced the Taiwanese health authorities, that Haiti was not a country at high risk of contamination...
