Haiti - Covid-19 : «We are still on red alert» dixit Minister Henriquez
Tuesday the Covid-19 Management Council chaired by Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe, involving the Multisectoral Commission, the scientific unit, the Communication unit, the Secretary General of the Prime Minister's office, as well as the various Ministers, Secretaries of State and Directors General of the Government met to monitor the situation of the epidemic on the national territory...

At the end of this meeting, Pradel Henriquez as Minister of Communication was instructed to take all measures to alert the population to the dangers that the Covid-19 pandemic still represents in Haiti.

Henriquez notes with the greatest concern the casual behavior of the population who does not respect any of the measures since the lifting of the state of health emergency in the country, last July 20 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-31395-haiti-covid-19-there-is-no-longer-a-state-of-health-emergency-in-haiti.html

He reminds the population that the pandemic is still active and raging in neighboring countries including the Dominican Republic but also in the United States, especially in Florida but also in the Latin American and Caribbean region. He stresses that the disease is not eradicated in Haiti where it continues to claim victims every day, and that anyone can be infected at any time if the barrier measures are not respected.

It should be noted that last May, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Jovenel Moïse, published in the official journal Le Moniteur, N°88 of Thursday, May 21, 2020, the decree setting the general rules for the protection of the population within the framework of of the fight against the pandemic https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30843-haiti-flash-presidential-decree-setting-the-general-rules-for-protecting-the-population-from-covid-19.html . In its article 2, it is clearly said "in order to slow down the spread of the pandemic, the measures of hygiene and social distancing, known as barriers, defined at the national level, and all other necessary measures according to the nature of the pandemic, adopted by decree taken in the Council of Ministers, must be observed in all places and in all circumstances."

For Minister Hemriquez "[...] We are still on red alert faced the danger this disease represents for the population. We must continue to respect all measures taken by the health authorities and apply the principles of hygiene, namely regular hand washing, respect for the distance of 1.50m, wearing a mask etc..."

Note that the non-renewal of the state of health emergency does not eliminate compliance with barrier measures
