On Wednesday August 5, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. and 16 seconds, an earthquake of magnitude 4.0 on the Richter scale occurred in the eastern part of the Southeast Department at 18.24 degrees North latitude, 71.89 degrees West longitude, at a depth of 15 km.

The epicenter was located 6 km west of Thiotte (South East), 19 km west of Belle-Anse, 57 km south-east of Port-au-Prince (West),

The earthquake was felt in the metropolitan area, in Port-au-Prince, Delmas and Turgeau among others.

No damage was reported by the municipal civil protection committees.

Civil Protection advises the population to stay alert and apply the usual security measures.
