Haiti - Humanitarian : The Mission «New Horizons Haiti 2011», in action in the Artibonite 12/06/2011 13:40:52
According the Captain David Bourgeois, the exercise coordinator, the dental clinicians have evaluated and treated approximately 1,100 patients during the 10-day mission. The purpose of the mission, according to Bourgeois, was to provide real-time, real-world training to joint-forces dental personnel, while concurrently providing humanitarian dental services to the citizens of the Artibonite Department, based on an invitation by the government of Haiti. During its mission, which runs until the end of the year, the program "Task Force Bon Vwazen" will deploy nearly 500 people, U.S. military engineers and medical professionals to Haiti for training and to provide humanitarian services. The mission, New Horizons Haiti 2011, will also build a school, two medical clinics and one latrine facility, as well as staff three medical clinics and one dental clinic between April 28 and June 25 in the Artibonite Department.
