Friday, September 18, as part of the efforts to reintegration and participation of the diaspora in Haiti's development, Louis Gonzague Edner Day, the Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) had two fruitful meetings with organizations of the diaspora.

First of all he received around 10:00 am Eric Saint-Louis Founder of the "United Nation Alliance" (a non-profit organization based in the USA) who was accompanied by Ms. Nicole Yolette Altidor the Minister of Social Affairs and Fritzner JOSEPH Member of the Office of the Minister.

For this first meeting, Eric Saint-Louis Haitian living in the diaspora, shared the vision and the objectives of "United Nation Alliance" which wants to be the Alliance of all Haitians. He explained that he felt challenged by the fate of destitute children, following the viewing of a video on the precarious living conditions of this vulnerable category living at the reception center of Delmas 3, in Port-au-Prince.

Through his association, which he intends to officially present to the Haitian public soon, Eric Saint-Louis has collected donations for these children.

Around 11:00 am, Minister Day received a delegation from “I Clean Haiti” a non-profit association founded in December 2019 in Florida, made up of Pierre Michel Norame (CEO), Jean-Richard Vergin (Treasurer), Jean Wilbert Saint-Aimé (Executive Coordinator) and Bernard Syllias.

This association, through its representatives, presented Minister Day with a project to create a plant for sorting, purchasing and recycling waste at the national level. For the launch, the departments of Ouest, Nord and Artibonite were chosen as zones.

Stages of the project :

  • Presentation of the project to the citizens and the Government of Haiti and the United States;
  • Establishment of partnerships with local municipalities;
  • Creation of infrastructure in Haiti;
  • Purchase of trucks, equipment, tools and supplies;
  • Job creation.

At the end of this meeting, Minister Day proposed to the delegation the modernization and management of landfill sites that already exist in Haiti and promised to transmit this project to the Ministry of the Environment which will have to ensure its follow-up if it is approved.
