The reopening of the binational market in Dajabón, initially scheduled for Thursday, October 8, was postponed by decision of representatives of Haitian merchants.

Abigail Bueno, President of the Association of Dominican Retailers of the Binational Market, explained that her Haitian counterparts had decided not to reopen the market in protest because they had not been invited to a meeting on health measures that was held on October 2nd https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-31958-icihaiti-dajabon-evaluation-of-the-health-protocol-for-the-reopening-of-the-binational-market.html declaring "The things have changed due to a misunderstanding with the Haitians."

She said a meeting with a delegation from the Haitian government had been scheduled to reschedule the opening date.

Remember that the binational market, which took place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays before being closed on March 19 to prevent the spread of Covid-19, will now take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
