Haiti - Economy : All the details of Haiti's new budget (2020-2021) of 254 billion 12/10/2020 12:00:42 If the expenses are rather simple to understand but if sometimes questionable in terms of relevance, the revenues, the foundation on which the budget is based, seems optimistic knowing that in the past, almost none of the financial forecasts were reached and that the current financial year will have to contend moreover with a difficult electoral year and a radical opposition which is no less so. According to Michel Patrick Boivert Minister of the Economy and Finance, the assumptions made for the 2020-2021 fiscal year are : GDP growth of around 2.4% (currently -2.6), year-end inflation estimated at 18.2% year-on-year (currently 27%), tax revenue projected at 132 billion gourdes, a tax pressure of 8.4% against 6.5% the previous year, issues of treasury bills to 25 billion gourdes and funding from the Central Bank up to 37.1 billion. Optimistic analysts will be overjoyed when others who are more skeptical or realistic see this budget as unrealistic growth and revenue projections.
