Saturday, October 17, as part of the commemoration of the 214th anniversary of the assassination of Jean-Jacques Dessalines (October 17, 1806 in Pont-Rouge), President Jovel Moïse addressing the plural opposition, once again launched a call for dialogue and union, writing on his Twitter account "The failure to resolve our political differences resulted in the assassination of the Founder of our Homeland, resulting in a divided country. Today, the past invites us to act differently to resolve our differences. This is the best tribute to Emperor Dessalines."

A hand extended and a call for dialogue immediately rejected by Me André Michel, fierce opponent of President Moïse and leader of the radical opposition of the so-called "Democratic and Popular" movement who declared "Jovenel Moïse would do better to pack his bags to leave the National Palace. His term will end in three months, but the people will not wait three months to demand his departure."

Former opposition Senator Nenel Cassy agrees, trivializing the Head of State's calls for dialogue "We are not going to listen to the announcements, promises or demands of Jovenel Moïse. He never tells the truth. We have to listen to the people who want another team and another system [...]"
