Haiti - Justice : The OPC accuses the spokesperson of the PNH of false statements 19/10/2020 10:31:04 Explaining "Broke into the hotel grounds on the pretext that they were looking for a gang leader, the police terrorized employees for hours, unfairly handcuffed the hotel security guards and killed Jean Rosner Glezil, an agent of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) assigned to the General Security Unit of the National Palace who was in a room of the hotel with her companion [...] Although he was identified he was shot by his brothers in arms who left with the server of the hotel's surveillance system to eliminate all evidence [..]" "The OPC condemns the false explanations of Commissioner Michel-Ange Louis Jeune, spokesperson for the National Police, making believe that the police officer Jean Rosner Glezil had not identified himself" which implies that the police were in good condition of self-defense. "[...] And expresses its concern and its deep concern at the behavior of the officials of the High Command of the police institution who trivialize the right to life and encourage by their inaction and the refusal to sanction, the atrocities of the members of the PNH." The OPC wonders "What can ordinary citizens hope for in terms of security and protection when the High Command through its Spokesman downplays a summary execution committed on one of its members ?" And reminds the PNH High Command that it has "a legal obligation to sanction its members responsible for human rights violations. Otherwise, they will be held responsible for these abuses and exposed to possible criminal prosecution." HL/ HaitiLibre
