At the initiative of the Technicians Associates for an Integrated Local Development (TADLI), the Public University of North to the Cap-Haitien (UPNCH), the University Anténor Firmin (UNAF) and the Institute for Global Change of Haiti, a forum on the need to find a sustainable development pole for the North will be held June 25, 2011 in Cap-Haitien.

In order to overcome the information asymmetry, to the lack of cohesion between the different sectors of the national life while promoting the partnership, which according to the organizers is the most appropriate way for Haiti to emerge from the impasses of the maldevelopment and also facilitate the gathering of the natural actors so that they express and confronts their points of view, to reach consensus, here are among other the justifications advanced for the holding of this forum that will bring together the mayors of each commune of the department, universities delegations, officials and citizens of the civil society are expected to this activity, whose promoters set themselves the objective of setting up a Observatory of the sustainable development of North.

The promoters plan to organize four workshops around the themes:

- Tourism, Regional Development Engine

- The obstacles to sustainable development in the North

- The opportunities for sustainable development

- Responsibilities of actors in local development.

This forum will be the opportunity for the different participants to identify their vision on what should be the development of their territory, to achieve synergy between them and to seek common solutions to the problems economic, social, ecological whose the Department of North is facing. The presentations and discussions will be published.

The responsibles of TADLI, UNAF, the UPNCH and of the ICGH will lead this observatory to inclusive character.
