Haiti - Diaspora : Message from the new Consul General of Haiti in France
Wedlyne François Pierre, appointed at the end of September 2020 Consul General of Haiti in Paris https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-31845-haiti-diplomacy-appointment-of-7-ambassadors-and-a-consul-general.html and taking office on October 21, delivered a message to the Haitian diapsora of France of which we invite you to share the main excerpts

Extracts from the message of Consul Wedlyne François Pierre :

"Dear compatriots,

[...] I have already had the pleasure of getting to know some of you and I can already sense that you form a very strong community. Very happy to join you, I pledge to collaborate with you on behalf of the Haitian State so that my presence at the helm of the Consulate guarantees you access to a quality public service according to the provisions of Haitian law. To do this, my team and I are at your entire disposal to receive your requests and assist you in your administrative procedures.

According to the roadmap entrusted to me, my work as Consul General will consist in ensuring that consular services are delivered with art and respect for the well-being of each compatriot. For me, it will be a question of encouraging your community initiatives [...] without claiming to replace the organizations of the Civil Society which constitute the churches, the associations, the community media and the cultural and artistic operators.

I come to you with humility and hope that we will be able to work together to face the migratory challenges. We will work in unity and respect for our respective obligations to lessen the difficulties imposed by the fact of migration in search of new experiences.

Not being on my first consular mission, I learned a lot from our communities about multifaceted aspects of our resilience and our failures. I retain that each community has its specificity and takes the form of social, political and cultural organization in which it is established with obviously its corollaries.

We need a strong community more than ever [...] I am counting on your solidarity and your understanding because without you, without your proven unity, without your manifested citizenship, my mission will be handicapped [...]"
