Artist Pascale Faublas in Barbados
On Saturday, artist Pascale Faublas took off for a month-long artistic residency in Fresh Milk (Barbados). In her artistic project, Pascale questions the image of "Fanm se Poto Mitan" which is attached to women in order to better impose injunctions on them. "We, women of the African diaspora, of the West Indies, of the Caribbean, are decked out with the attributes of courage, resilience, wisdom. What does this imply ? How much is this image costing us ? How is this stereotype experienced in Barbados ? How does it translate into culture and history ? Remember that this cross-residency project in the Caribbean is implemented by the Art Center, with the support of the UNESCO Cultural Diversity Fund (IFCD), in partnership with Fresh Milk, the Carasso Foundation and the FOKAL.
