Haiti - Economy : Negative growth of the ICAE economic index 09/11/2020 09:17:08 The Conjunctural Economic Activity Indicator (ICAE) is evaluated at 136.1 in the 3rd quarter of 2019-2020, against 144.9 in the 3rd quarter of the previous financial year (2018-2019), i.e. a decrease of 6.1% year-on-year. Summary statistics : Primary Sector : The Primary Sector ICAE recorded a negative year-on-year growth of 6.5% mainly caused by the fall of two sub-sectors : agriculture -6.6% and extractive activities -6.0%. Secondary sector : The ICAE of the Secondary Sector has shown a significant drop of -10.1% following the induced effects of Covid-19 on all branches of the sector. The index of the branch of manufacturing industries, during this period decreased by 10.3% year on year; construction -6.98% and the electricity and water branch contracted -29.5% year-on-year mainly caused by the Electricity Production and Distribution branch -30% and that of water and water q -26.1%. Tertiary sector : The Tertiary Sector achieved negative annual growth of -4.6%, unlike the increase of + 0.9% obtained for the same period of the previous year.
